HPV Diagnosed Through Colposcopy. What Are The Tests The Partner Has To Go For?

My girlfriend went to the doctor and had a colopscopy the doctor told her she had HPV, she showed a picture to me and it showed darker areas, the doctor said that the damage has been there for about a year or a little over a year. I don't have any symptoms or show any, I did a urine test and came back negative, is there another test that I should do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your query.
No,there is no specific test. Only if you notice genital warts then diagnosis can be established. There is no general test for HPV that can tell a man or woman his or her “HPV status”. There is no clear health benefit to knowing if one has the virus—since it usually causes no health problems and goes away on its own.
Wish you good health.
