Had A Root Canal. Swelling On Cheeks Opposite To Cavity. What To Do?
hi i am manzoor..
recently i had a root canal on one of my tooth.. before root canal i had swellings on one of my cheeks.. but the problem is the swelling is on opposite side to the cavity.. My dentist told that it is because i was eating food oneside for a longtime... The problem is still there after my root canal.. kindly suggest me something.....

Thanks for asking the query,
Cheek swelling is not related with the root canal treated tooth as it is on the opposite side.
The swelling can be due to allergic reactions, can be a symptom of underlying dental isssue on the opposite side of the face, can be due to inflammation of lymph nodes or parotid gland known as Parotitis.
I would suggest you to go for thorough clinical examination, if nrcessary go for OPG radiograph which may be helpful in confirming the underlying cause.
Maintain a good oral hygiene, use lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
Start taking with multivitamin tablets.

The swelling may be due to the spread of infection into opposite quadrant.
I Would suggest you to get a thorough clinical as well as radiological examination.
Usually the swelling subside after root canal treatment had undergone.
Since the swelling persists,chances of re-infection is more.
Take complete course of antibiotics-analgesics too.
Maintain good oral hygiene.
Take warm saline rinse frequently.

Hello.
I feel you should get an x ray OPG done to check if there is any infection on the other side of the jaw. If there is an infection the associated tooth should be treated at the earliest so that the swelling will subside. Consult an Endodontist at the earliest. Hoping a speedy recovery.
