Had An Ectopic Pregnancy, One Fallopian Tubes Removed, Underwent Hydrosalpigogram, Problem In Conceiving. Risks? Cure?

Hi, Please could you tell me, I am 32 years old. I had an ectopic pregnancy in December which resulted in having one of my fallopian tubes removed. When i was seen by the consultant (who did my op) he said my other tube was completly fine and i should have no problems conceiving. However, i went for scan to be told that i have a blocked tube and will need a hydrosalpigogram?? I had this done and now i am being told that my remaining tubes in blocked and they are going to try draining it. Is this possible? what are the risk. If its not possible he will be removing the tube and referring me for IVF .

Hi,
Thanks for writing your problem to us.
You have not provided us with details of your ultrasound findings. Probably there is a tubo ovarian cyst or abscess which your doctor wants to drain.
Generally, this may help for any symptoms you may be having, but, for restoration of fertility it is seldom helpful. In addition, this may increase chances of another ectopic.
In my view IVF is the final answer. Please take a second opinion before proceeding further.
Take care.
