Had Angioplasty. When Tried Climbing Mountain, Felt Dizziness, Fainted. Recovered After Few Minutes. Any Problem?
Sir I underwent angioplasty 15 months back with one stent placed. I walk for 30 minutes 5 days a week though at times not regular. Two reviews done each after six months since angioplasty revealed satisfactory results. I do not feel any difficulty in walking and climbing 5 stairs -75-80 steps. I do not smoke or drink . Recently I went on a picnic to a place where I climbed a mountain with rocky steps. After 40 minutes of climbing I felt dizziness and fainted(passed out) for few minutes and recovered immediately. After taking rest I climbed down and felt normal thereafter. Is there any problem?
HI Thank for asking to HCM I think the angioplasty and the episode of your fainting are not at all related, very strong reason behind your fainting would be hypoglycemia ( Low level of blood sugar) and second vegal nerve excitation which causes low blood pressure, otherwise wise, cardiac event is very unlikely, I usually asking my patient for certain investigations like blood sugar, CT head, to rule out the exact etiology, which is equally important, take care, and have good day.
