Had Back Surgery. Had Allergic Reaction, Swelling Of Throat. Cannot Swallow Solids. Serious?
My sister just had back surgery and she had a severe allergic reaction and her throat swelled up. They finally got the swelling down but she was on a ventilator for about 48 hours. They took her off the ventilator and put her in a room. The swelling is still there somewhat and she can t get solid foods down. She is very week. doctor is concerned. Does it sound alarming to you?

hi.. thanks for using HCM.. you sister was put on ventilator and she is out of ventilator after 48 hours.. now she has dysphagia.. this is common after the ventilator, so dont worry about it.. start with liquid diet, slowly increase the consistency of food.. meanwhile you can use antiinflammatory drugs.. all the very best..
allergy can develop due to medicines used during after and before surgery and the throat sweling can be secondary to use of ventilator tubes and endotracheal tubes this can take 4-6 wk as swelling subsides slowly as time passes with antiallergic treatments your doctors are the best to know the condition they are on right way as you have written and as being understoood by your history and recovery process written by you
