Had By-pass Surgery After Chest Pain Due To Blockage. How To Make A Speedy Recovery?

My friend has has had by-pass surgery this week. 90% blockage in main artery. No heart attack, just went to hospital after having chest pains. Recovering now. What can he expect the next week, month, 6 months for recovery? How can I help in his recovery? How far can I push him in his recovery? When can he play golf??? Thank you

Dear friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Barring accidents, he should be well, now…
Aggressive management of risk factors is the cornerstone
You cannot do anything… except motivation
He should opt for life style changes – diet and exercise / no tobacco and alcohol
Golf is OK after about 2 months…
He must keep following up / The treating doctor alone can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation.

Good luck
Take care
Wishing all well
God bless
