Had Cervical Cauterisation. Used Small Chemical Stick To Apply On Cervix. Noticed Some Greyish Discharge. What Can Be Done?

Hi, I had a cervical cauterisation 9 days ago and the doctor used a small chemical stick to apply some sort of chemical to the small abrasion I had on the cervix. Since then I had some greyish discharge a couple of days after and then some spotting since but it is on and off. We are also trying for a baby and I've had 2 miscarriages this year. Although I do not think I am pregnant as we didn't try properly this month, there is a small chance I might be and keep worrying the bleeding may be the start of another miscarriage. I was not told what to expect after the cauterisation so don't know if bleeding is normal or not, an advice welcome, thanks.

Hi,
The discharge and the spotting are usually the after effects of the treatment procedure on the cervix, so there is no need for worry. It is always advisable to abstain for at least two weeks after the procedure to avoid infection to the cauterized area. If you have had a normal cycle throughout, you may wait for your next period. Else, you can check for the possibility of conception which I think is a rare possibility in this cycle consequent to the procedure. You can get the serum beta-hCG levels done to have a definite conclusion. Hope this helps.
