Had Copper Nova Inserted. Have Occasional Bleeding. Cause?

I have had a copper nova t iud since dec 2011 and in the last few months I have stopped getting my period. I still occasionally bleed around when its supposed to stop but just enough for me to notice, clean it up and then it stops. Ive even put I tampon in a few times but when I take it out theres nothing there what could cause this?

Hello,
You have not mentioned your age. Are you in peri menopausal age. You are using Intrauterine contraceptive device since Dec 2011. Now you have stopped getting your periods. the mild bleeding and unusual cramps (not similar to your regular menstrual cramps) are common side effect of this device. If you don't have other problems and if you are disturbed by your occasional bleed, better to remove it.
