Had Hip Replacement. EKG Report Done. Sinus Rhythm Normal, Borderline T Abnormalities. What Does This Mean?

I am a 51 year old female. I just had my pre-anesthesia examine for a hip replacement I am having 10/10/13. During this examine they performed an EKG and compared it to my EKG from April 2013. I have now been referred to a cardiologist before I can be cleared for surgery. I will be following up with cardiologist next week but I am just very anxious about waiting for a explanation. HR 90 sinus rhythm normal P axis, V-rate 50 - 99, borderline left axis deviation - QRS axis (-15, -29); PR 184 borderline low voltage in frontal leads, all frontal leads Axis, P 51; QRS -26, T 68

I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

Borderline T-wave abnormalities" would indicate that there are some changes in the T-wave (one particular portion of the tracing) that is slightly abnormal, but not abnormal enough to make a clear diagnosis.

T wave changes can suggest a number of problems, (including heart disease, changes in potassium level, medication effects) so it would not be possible to be much more specific without seeing the actual tracing.

I believe an evaluation by a cardiologist would be appropriate. Depending on the results of your complete medical history and physical examination, further testing such as a echocardiogram, stress test may be appropriate.
