Had Hysterectomy To Remove Cyst On Right Ovary, Discomfort Since Then. Will Surgery For Ovary Removal Help ?
I had hysterectomy sept 2010, in 2012 had 8cm complex cyst on right ovary removed. Now I have 8cm cyst on left ovary for almost 2 months and is causing discomfort. Right now scheduled for surgery on the 21st. I want to ovary removed. Do you think the cyst will be gone at the size it is? I still want the ovary removed regardless. I'm 45 and no plan on having children.
Hi, A cyst of the size mentioned is not likely to regress on its own and needs surgical treatment. You may have the ovary removed if your doctor consents as you still would have another functional ovary. Also, the cause for recurrent cyst formation should be asserted and treatment should be planned accordingly. You may need hormonal supplementation if you develop symptoms of menopause not responding to simple remedial measures. Hope your query has been answered. Take care.
