Had Pre-op EKG. What Are The Findings In The Report?

Just had a pre-op EKG done and it says:

Sinus rhythm
right axis deviation
moderate mid- and Left precordial and High-lateral repolarization disturbance
consider ischemia, LV overloand and/or digitalis
negative T in I aVL V4 V5 V6
with small negative T in V3
Abnormal ECG

I can define the terms individually, but what does it all mean??

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,

12 lead Electrocardiogram ( ECG) always need to be correlated clinically without actual ECG you have to comment on findings.

This ecg reveals St T wave changes which could indicate Ischemic heart disease or patient may be hypertensive or taking some drugs for hypertension or there may be valvular defect which can cause volume overload to left ventricle.

As a preoperative ECG definitely abnormal and needs to be shown to cardiologist and if required 2 D Echocardiography may be done before surgery.

Even a right axis deviation is not normal and requires clinical correlation.

Hope this information helps.
Take care.
Good Luck.
