Had Pregnancy Terminated Due To Anencephaly. Low Vitamin D3. Planning For Baby. Advice?

Hello doctor,

My wife had a pregnancy termination last year in Feb after 4 months. It was due to a condition called Anencephaly.

SHe was put on Folic acid Tablet (All 9) since then.

Just a couple days wwe have foun out that she currently has a deficiency of Vitamin D3. He test value was 7.5. while her Vitamin D12 value is >2000.

Is this a cause of concern, now that we are planning again for a new baby.

Also, please tell us the natural food source (if any) for Vitamin D3.

Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Sometimes vitamin D deficiency can lead to miscarriages.
But if she improves her vitamin D levels before planning pregnancy, these problems can be prevented.
Actually sun rays are the better natural source of vitamin D.
She can take tablets or sachets with cholocalciferol.
Increasing the intake of calcium also helps to some extent.

Take care.
