Had Radical Prostatectomy And Radiation Treatment. Had Incontinence And Artificial Sphincter Fitted. Suggest?

Hello my name is joseph,i had radical prostatectomy in 2001 and also 6 weeks of radiation treatment on a daily basis.
i have had major incontenance issues in the past two years and have had artificial sphincter fitted-(4) in total.
the incontenance is no better and i am constantly using excessive pads daily.
my urologist surgeon has advised there is no more he can do.i am depressed and upset re this,as he had stated
he would secure the proththesis better and stop leakage.i am faced with the urgency to urinate and the pump is
not working at all as i can pass urine without pump activation.please advise on a solution if possible.

Hello
Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have undergone radical prostatectomy for cancer of the prostate and landed in a complication of incontinence for which you have undergone surgery to implant artificial sphincter which unfortunately not working.
Now you are facing problem of leakage of urine and urgency.
There is no alternative except a to replace the sphincter again or to put a suprapubic catheter to drain the bladder contineueously.

Please discuss the efficacy of both the options with your Urologist.
