Had Sex With Sex Worker. Have Pain In Penis, Watery Eyes And Cold. When Should I Take HIV Test?

Hello Doctor,
On 16th May, I had sex with a sex worker. We had sex twice. Both the times I have used latex condoms. However, for the the first encounter, I had used the condom which she had bought with her. During the second sex encounter, I have used my condom. After both the encounters, I had immediately withdrawn after ejaculation and washed my self thoughly.

I am very much worried about the infection. From the very next day of having sex, I have developed mild pain in the pennis. on the second day, I have developed watery eyes and cold. I feel like having fever aswell. I am pretty much worried about contacting HIV or other STD.

My main worry is about using the condom brought by the lady. Kindly let me know whether the condoms can be purposefully contaminated with HIV/other virus. I am intended to go for HIV tests. Please advice what tests should I undergo. WHat are the chances im my case to get HIV infection. I am very much worried. Please advice.

Thank you and Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom,
Welcome to HCM.

You had your both exposures well protected and so the chances of getting HIV is very low. The pain over the penis may likely due to minute abrasions happened during the act of sex.

Earliest manifestations of HIV can occur only after 3-4 weeks of the high risk exposure or after the infection. It never can occur on the second day. The cold and fever is common for everybody. It may even contracted from your sex partner by the intimate contact during sex through an air born infection and not necessarily related to HIV.

It is better for to have the HIV test to see the negative status of the test and
thereby you can relieve from unnecessary tension and relax. There are reliable tests available which are more conclusive after 3-4 weeks of the exposure.
Wish you good luck
