Had Sore, Red Throat, Lump, Green Drainage. What Is The Solution?

I have had a sore throat for a week now. It feels like I am swallowing a marble or have a lump in my throat. Went to doctor last friday and said I have clear drainage and throat red. I gargle with warm salt water, and take ibuprofen to help the pain as it hurts really bad if I don t. My mouth and throat dry so quickly too. I also have a cough some and my drainage is now green.

Hello
Thanks for writing to H.C.M. for your query.
I have gone through your query regarding sore throat and feeling of lump in throat. As you said your throat is red in colour. By your this clinical history it is clear that you are suffering from some infective disease of throat, according to involvement of different structures of throat it may be-
(1) Acute Tonsillitis.
(2) Acute tonsilopharyngitis.
(3)Acute upper respiratory tract infection.
As far as management is concern you are advice for these basic investigations-
(1) Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.
(2) X-Ray chest - P.A.view.
(3) X-Ray paranasal sinuses.
(4) Blood- CBC, ESR, Blood sugar - F. & P.P.,
(5) Urine - Routine and microscopic.
Inferences of these investigations along with clinical co-relation will guide us to reach to a proper diagnosis that can be accordingly manage.
