Had Unprotected Sex. Took IPill. Have Nauseousness, Rectal Bleeding. Din't Get Her Normal Bleeding Yet. Pregnant? Problem?

Hello Doctor:

I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend last week on Sunday, 07/07/2013, and after that she took the i-pill on Tuesday, 07/09/2013, i.e. within 48 hours. Last time, almost a year back, when she took i-pill she had her menses immediately after a week irrespective of her regular dates. This time, we are worried as she is yet to have her menses. After a couple of days of taking i-pill she was having nauseousness and suspicious rectal bleeding just a couple of days back. Her normal menses dates are mostly the end of the month or the very beginning of the next month. Please advice us on this as we are worried if she is pregnant or not.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
You should consult a gynaecologist for ultrasonography and blood test to rule out pregnancy and cause of bleeding first. The chances of pregnancy are less in her case because she had emergency pill.
She should consult for rectal bleeding also because it may be because of another reason also.
These all symptoms may be because of hormonal disturbances.
Good Luck.
Take care.
