General & Family Physician, Dr. Nirmala P's Response
Acute upper respiratory tract infection (URI) causes feeling of wax & fullness in ear. URI leads to tubal block & middle ear infection. If left untreated, it results in pus formation. Usually the watery portion of pus comes out first through the ear & causes scab(peeling of skin) which you experienced on thursday morning. Minimal nasal bleed is due to active rhinosinusitis. Sound of water (occurs during head movement) is due to accumulation of water in the middle ear. Visit your ENT Dr & get your ears cleaned. Take a course of antibiotic Amoxycillin (suppresses infection), antiinflamatory Ibuprofen (reduces inflamation & pain) & Gentamycin ear drops. Steam inhalation will give additional benefit.
