Had Wisdom Teeth Pulled. Feeling Cold, Shaking, Vomiting. Normal?

Hello, I got the left side, top and bottom, wisdom teeth pulled yesterday morning. Last night after I layed down I was suddenly freezing so bad that my entire body was shaking severely. About a half an hour later it stopped and then I began vomiting everything id been able to eat since the teeth were removed. Once I finished vomiting, my entire body felt normal again and just extremely tired, so I went back to bed and immediately fell asleep. Is any of this normal?

Hello,
Thanks for coming to HCM. Did you get bleeding from extracted tooth site before or during 'feeling freezing'? If not, your problems might be because of food you ate which lead to indigestion. You might take some antacid if required. Your problems are likely to subside in few hours.
If you notice any bleeding from tooth extraction site, apply pressure with sterile cotton and contact your dentist quickly.
Wish you good health!

dear friend.

thanks for sharing your concern.

it is normal,do not worry.I hope your dentist must have given you antibiotics and analgesics after extraction.please continue that after taking food.

the symptoms of vomiting must subside soon and you said you felt like freezing that is because of pyresis(fever).

i would suggest you to follow post extraction instructions religiously.

that is,do not do vigorous mouth rinsing or brushing.48 hours after extraction you can do warm saline rinsing very gently so that healing socket is debris free.

avoid too hot or cold food stuff, take semisolid diet and plenty of fluids and nutritious diet.all these helps healing faster.

a would definitely suggest you for a post extraction follow up.

remember, if your symptoms does not subside even after following the measures above, then you must visit your dentist, else not required.

till then maintain good oral hygiene.

hope you get well soon.

thanks

Hello and welcome to HCM ,

After extraction of the wisdom teeth it usually takes 7 to 10 days for the wound to heal and close completely .

During the healing process , there is increased salivary secretion and soreness which may lead to nausea and vomiting sensation which is normal so dont worry .

Use antiseptic mouthwash like betadine or chlorhexidine for oral rinsing which gives soothing effect and helps in reducing nausea and vomiting.

Follow the antibiotic course prescribed by your dentist , drink lot of water and keep yourself hydrated.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query,
The initial healing period usually takes about one to two weeks.
just continue the routine of meds, fluids, salt rinses, food, salt rinses, naps, ice packs, gentle brushing and the occasional teabag (if needed) for the third day
Other important things to remember are: no straws, no smoking, no hard rinsing and no spitting. Less easy actions to avoid include sneezing and coughing
you may go for replacing the missing tooth or teeth with an implant, fixed bridge, or denture.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful

Hello,
I am Dr.Neha Gupta (dentist) and am glad to address to your query here.

Extraction of wisdom multiple wisdom teeth is often associated with post complications like fever ,nausea and vomiting
After extraction , the healing process starts and there is increased salivation due to which you may feel nausea and vomiting.
Due to reduced apetite and low intake of diet you may feel hyperacidity and vomiting . Fever can be reactionary symptoms or sometimes infection of the extraction socket may lead to pain and fever.
Continue with the course of antibiotic and analgesics prescribed to you
follow the post extraction instructions given by your dentist
If the symptoms do not subside in 3 to 5 days you need to consult your dentist

Take care and please keep me informed of your progress at healthcaremagic through my profile directly.

The symptoms are usually associated with post-extraction of wisdom tooth.

I would advice you not to take antibiotics in empty stomach.

Heavy doses of antibiotics has to be avoided after consulting with your dentist.

Antigastric tablets has to be administered to prevent gastritis.

Take plenty of fluids as well as nutritious diet.

Take adequate rest .

Hope this helps.
