Hair Fall, Dry Scalp. Had Pityrious Rosea Months Back. Prescribed Minoxodil. Is Hair Fall Related To Pityrious Rosea?

I was diagnosed with Pityrious Rosea in August. Most of the inflammation is now down, but I still have red patches and extremely dry skin, especially on my hands and scalp. My hair is suddenly falling out; my scalp is dry and scabby. Can this all be from the Pityrious Rosea? All my dermatologist told me to do was put a prescribed cream on my body and use Minoxodil on my hair.

hi. Pitryiasis rosea is not responsible for hair fall. You told scalp is dry and scabby. Now that could be either because you have Dandruff which is itself one of the causes of hair fall or or may be your dry and scabby scalp is the result of using minoxidil which having an alcoholic base can result into this. In either case stop using minoxidil first. Use an antidandruff shampoo like Nizral 2 %.
