Hard And Fast Heart Beat

My boyfriend is only 18 years old and in shape but im worried about his heart . Sometimes his heart will start to beat so hard and fast that i can feel it in his chest without even trying. It has happend 3 times since augest. While he sleeps his heart pumps extra hard and the artery in his neck bulges out and he doesnt even notice it. He thinks he is to young to go see a doctor about his heart.
