Hard Area With Yellow Discoloring And Reddish Edge On Fingers Which Starts Peeling. No Relief From Steroid Creams. Help
I have peeling on my fingers - usually the thumbs are worse but over the last ten years it is starting to happen on other fingers too - first I get a hard area on the finger tip with a little yellowed discoloring with a reddish edge and then I immediately know that area will peel because the sensation is different like the layers are separating... sometimes down so many layers they crack and bleed. A P.A. at a dermatology clinic once told me it was stress induced eczema and just put a steroid cream on it- that has never helped and it doesn't have symptoms like eczema, no itching, or anything like that. I just worry it might be something worse and it's been going on so long. I do have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis but it's controlled with medication. It's embarassing as well as painful.
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
There can be two possibilities of your condition.
1. Palmar psoriasis.
2. Chronic eczema.
Although steroids are effective but application is difficult on hands and also the drug remains in contact for a short time.
There are other modalites, which include.
1. Psoralen with uv light.
2. Tacrolimus
please meet a dermatologist and discuss regarding these.
Let me know if you have any other doubt.
Thank you
