Hard Itchy Lump Due To Wasp Sting. Need To Get Checked?

I stepped on a wasp 3 days ago and was stung. A single, clean puncture, no stinger, no real reaction beyond the initial sting. I cleaned it and it seemed to heal over by the next day. Now, there's a hard, round, itchy lump at the site of the sting, about the size of a large blueberry. No real redness, pus, or other signs of infection....just hard and itchy. Does this require further attention or is it normal?

Hi
Thanks for your query

Looks like you have developed a lesion of Vector dermatitis..also known as Paederus dermatitis..
Paederus dermatitis is a peculiar, irritant contact dermatitis characterized by a sudden onset of red lesions on exposed areas of the body. The disease is provoked by an insect belonging to the genus Paederus.
Now as in your case the lesion is persisting since 3 days, you need to apply an antibiotic/steroid combination cream over the lesion twice a day.
Take oral antihistamine like levocetrizine once a day to decrease the swelling .
At present, you dont seem to have any signs of infection in the form of raised local temperature or extreme redness or pain or pus discharge from the lesion, so you can safely continue with the above therapy, but if you tend to develop any of the above signs, then you might need a course of oral antibiotics or steroids as assessed by a specialist.

Hope it helps
