Hard Lump Above Upper Lip, Growing Inside Lip. Should I See Dermatologist Or Dentist?
Hello, I have a hard lump that has been growing just above my upper lip for several years. It started out very small where I only knew it was there because I could feel it if I rubbed my finger over it however, over the years it has grown large enough that it is now visible even in photos. Since it's never caused me any pain, I've never pursued having it checked but, it's gotten to the point where people notice it and ask me what it is which has become bothersome. I've searched online and haven't come across anything that quite describes this growth. The area of my lip is not discolored nor has the skin ever broke open or ever had any drainage. The lump is as hard as a rock and almost feels like a foreign object under the skin. While I can feel it slightly on the underside of my lip if I press on it, it is only visible on the outer part of my lip. It is not a growth on top of my skin it is actually growing inside my lip. Any thoughts on what this could be and suggestions on whether I should see a dermatologist or a dentist to have it checked?
First you should consult surgeon. Further reference to other people can be done if needed. You need proper evaluation for your swelling. From history, it seems to be benign in nature. If bony hard, then first X-ray of face( O.M view) should be taken. FNAC and CT Scan can be done if needed. Get well soon
