Has Swollen Feet Calvas, Stomach. Done Echo, CT Scan. Falls Asleep Easily. Have Nose Bleeds. Causes And Treatment?

My husband is 37 and for the last 2-3 months has had extreamly large swollen feet calvas, and stomach. They are red and hard to the touch. Is also urinateing every 20 (at lest)! They have checked for blood clots, kidney falure ,heart desiese, liver problems,he has had an echo done and a CT scan and an ultra sound of his abdomen and legs (to check for blood clots). He also finds it hard to stay awake no matter what he is doing he will fall asleep (driving, standing, eating) about 2 hrs after he wakes up, around 3pm, 6ish, and again aroun8:30 -9 pm... no matter how long he sleeps for!he just recently started having nose bleeds. Do yo have any idea what is going on or what type of dr. He should see? His family dr. Is compleatly "baffled" by this and he has been out of work because he is a truck driver...(cant fall asleep driving one of those trucks)... he has not gone out of the country. We live in south jersey and he delivers fresh meets to butcher shops in PA.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,

There are a number of issues which have to be dealth separately.
For the nose bleeds, you need to get blood platelet levels checked by a routine hematology work up.

The problem of excessive sleepiness is a neurological problem and it is called narcolepsy.
You need to consult a neurologist for this problem and get appropriate drugs prescribed.

For the problem of excessive urination, an examination of the prostate needs to be done.
In case frequent urination is accompanied by dysuria (painful urination), nocturia (urge to urinate at night); the possibility of prostatic involvement is highly suggestive. You need to consult a surgeon for this problem.

It seems from your history that your husband is predisposed to frequent clotting of blood. A coagulogram will help to know the status of all coagulating factors.

So, in all consultation with a surgeon and a physician for a clinical examination, investigations and appropriate management.

Thanks and take care
