Have CHF. Tightness In The Chest. Need To Be Concerned?
I know I have CHF but my echo cardiogram has been normal for the last year or so. Should I be concerned when I feel a distinct tightness in my chest? The only way I can describe this feeling is that it feels as if a strong fist is grabbing my heart . I have had this feeling before and I am still ok, but I am not geographically close to my health care providers now, and I need a bit of advice. ths
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
When echo cardiogram is normal, there appears to be least chances of CHF.
CHF is a clinical condition in which patient has difficulty in breathing, pedal edema, abdominal distension and pain in right upper quadrant of abdomen.
With the available described symptoms, there appear to be possibility of Ischemic heart disease or cough variant asthma.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ cardiologist and should go for thorough check up.
You should go for stress test, coronary angiography and spirometry.
You should take bronchodilators and antiplatelets for getting relief.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
