Have Hashimoto's Disease. Chest Pain. Taking Aspirin. Angina Or Pulmonary Emboli?

I am a 68 yr old female in good health, take thyroid for Hashimotos disease ( keeping my TSH around 1) . I am 5'9" and weigh probably 20 lbs more than I should. In the last month I notice a different sensation in my chest, actually slightly left of center about the height of my clavicle. This is a brief, sporadic, very mild but sharp pain not associated with exercise, exertion, eating, drinking or anything else I can think of. I have great blood pressure, pretty good diet, take multivitamins and baby aspirin and drink a glass of red wine most every day. Could this be angina or pulmonary emboli?

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

May be neither of the two!

Pain from the heart is oppressing, in central chest (and left), worse on effort, relieved by rest, may radiate to shoulders and arms, associated with sweating and so on. ECG (at times - stress) and enzymes assay are often necessary...
Pulmonary embolism is suspected with – calf swelling and pain, unexplained fast heart rate or breathlessness, right heart strain in EKG and so on...

Brief and sharp with no relation to known events may be from muscle spasm or anxiety...
The wise course – of course – is to get yourself examined / investigated, if necessary...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
