Have Lupus, Fibromyalgia And Sogourns; Recently CT Scan Revealed A Mass In Abdomen. What Could This Be?

I just received a call from my MD and she told me that the CT of my abdomen shows a mass. I have no idea what that means. I have Lupus, fibromyalgia and Sogourns. I am really scared at this point and not sure if I should say anything to my husband and kids at this point. They are making me an appointment with a enterologist.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned.

A mass may be found in any aspect of the gastrointestinal tract. The gastrointestinal tract refers the liver, spleen, gallbladder, pancreas and from the esophagus to the anus.

The mass (usually a solid structure, may also be a cysts however), may not necessarily be cancerous. There are non cancerous masses as well.

Further tests would be necessary to determine what is the type of mass that is present. The tests would depend on where it is located.

It may be best to tell your husband so that you have his support to help you.

I hope this helps
