Have A History Of Medical Issues. Heart Was Functioning At 44 Percent But Now Its 27 Percent. What To Do?

Hi, my husband is 63 and started having heart issues at 47. He had a triple by-pass then and 13 individual stent surgeries, 8 balloons, 1 heart attack, 2 pacer/difibulators (one was replaced) and now his heart function is 27. At one time, he got it up to 44 percent on his function. Can he get it back up to that? What can we expect?

Dear Ma'm
Thanks for your query to us.
Once there is a heart attack, heart has a tendency to enlarge and pumping goes on decreasing. Other reason for decrease in pumping is fresh heart attacks (silent or manifest). If an artery is critically narrowed, the area of supply (heart muscle) may lose function leading to decrease pumping.
If cause is ischemia (decreased blood supply to the heart), we have to go for opening of blood vessels. There are remedies for improving pumping like beta-blockers, Biventricular pacing etc. But best strategy will be decided by knowing the cause only.
Hope this helps
sincerely
