Have A Red Shiny Rash. Is Diabetic. Counter Cream Works Little. Suggestions?

my husband has a bright red shiny rash under one of his armpits only. It hurts. He is a diabetic and I am wondering if I should take him to the emergency room tomorrow. He has put a over the counter cream and it helps for a short time but it has not gone away and he is very uncomfortable. His doctor will not be in the office until Tuesday and I wonder as he is a diabetic should he be seen

Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
As usual diabetic are very prone to skin infection particularly sebaceous glands .
Due to hair follicles your husband got an infection ,most probably staphylococcus or streptococcus .
This , if not treated may turn into cellulitis and later on non-healing ulcer , so first of all control the blood sugar level and take proper antibiotics , as an OTC product.
If not such facility then consult emergency room and take treatment .
