I have a trachaeostomy my windpipe is shrinking at night I wake up feeling like someone is choking me I have to get up 3 or 4 times a night so I can breathe again. Good evening. . Well i dont really know the reason for your tracheostomy. But since you have had ir for a long time it does happen that the tracheostomy starts forming a scar. Which causes breathing problem and repeated cough. You can consult a good ent surgeon and he will be able to help you out
