Have Been On Zoloft, Done Blood Test. Have Cholesterol Problem. Will It Effect Cholesterol Level?

Hello, I have been on Zoloft for many many years. I get blood work done every year. I am worried it will affect my cholesterol levels. I was weined off of the 50mg but had to go back on it because of my anxiety and panick. I am now on 100mg. I have had problems with my cholesterol but it is controlled with diet. I do not have any other health problems. Should I discuss this with my doctor.

Dear Sir/ Madam
Thanks for writing to HCM.
The sertraline (zoloft) therapy is known to be associated with mild increase in cholesterol levels in some studies. However this increase has not been found to be more than 3% and was labeled as clinically non-significant.
However still if you have borderline cholesterol level, just check it periodically in consultation with your doctor.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
