Have Bleeding In The Vagina After Having A Bladder Repair
I had a hysterectomy and bladder repair (SPARC) procedure done in 2005. A year ago I started bleeding from the vaginal area and was told by the doctor that the stitches from the bladder survey had woe through the vaginal wall. The bleeding was stopped by using a type of "glue". Since that time I am still bleeding lightly every day. I can physically feel that the bladder has dropped further and I can also feel that stitches. Very uncomfortable. I have also had 2 UTI's within the last 6 months. Incontinence is also an issue. Would you recommend seeing a urologist or OBGYN? Also, how can this be repaired.
Hi I understand your concern. The SPARC system does not need stitches. It is very rare for it to cut through the vaginal wall. The tissue surrounding the vagina usually secures it in place. It may have sagged down or loosened. This may lead to incontinence and UTI but not vaginal bleeding. I suggest that if you are having vaginal bleed you see a gynecologist and have yourself examined for other causes. A urogynecologist would be a better option if you are able to find one as he would be able to address both the issues.
Regarding the repair; If the mesh has loosened than it is possible to repair the surrounding tissue and tighten the bladder. The procedure is difficult but it can be done. So do not worry.
Hope this helped. Thanks for using HCM. Dr Madhuri Bagde
