Have Bronchitis, High WBC Count And High CO2 In Blood. What Does It Mean?

my mother in law has COPD and was taken to hospital today for rattling in her chest . while at the hospital she slept most of the time she was there. they came back saying they wanted to admit her that she had bronchitis .they said her wbc count was 17,000. they also drew more blood and came back saying she had high level of co2 in her blood. What could this mean? I am not smart when it comes to this stuff!

Chronic obstructive bronchopneumopathy (COPD) is a chronic disease characterized by cough and obstruction. An infection especially bacterial is usually going to be accompanied by an increase in the level of white blood cells. This is the body s natural mechanism to fight infection, so its but normal. Monitoring levels of this white blood cells shall be an important parameter to check whether the treatment offered is effective or not.
Its not exceptional for that the CO2 levels should be raised. This is COPD, and obstruction leads to accumulation of Carbondioxide. Treatment and follow up of CO2 levels and white blood cell counts are key parameters to monitor during her treatment course. I suggest she complies with the management protocol of her physician.
