Cataract is a disease where the lens present in the eye becomes opaque. It can occur because of ageing, following diseases like diabetes, injuries.. The main treatment for cataract is by surgery where the cataractous lens is removed and replaced by artificial intraocular lens.
Since she is 65 years old the cataract is because of age related changes, hence no need to worry.
The cost of the surgery depends on the type of surgery. Now the surgery of choice is phacoemulsification. In Tamilnadu this costs around rupees20,000-25,000.
