Have Cough, Pain In Shoulders And Teeth, Runny Nose. Am I Getting Better?

I have had a cough for a couple of weeks, I went to the Drs two days ago and she said she couldn t give me antibiotics because the cough was not on my chest it was higher up. Last night I felt really ill and shaky. This morning I have woke up and just my shoulders and teeth ache but I have a really runny nose . Am I right to think I am getting better because all the stuff that is clogging up my head is running out of my nose? Thank uoi

Dear Concerned.,
Thanks for writing to us.
As Per the history mentioned here you have been suffering from Acute Upper Respiratory Infection. In all probabality your doctor would have thought in terms of "VIRAL" origin so she would not have started on any empirical antibiotics.
The infection could have spread to both maxillary sinuses leading to a clogging feeling and heavyness in the head.Have you been having fever as well?Pls check your temperature.
The treatment protocol has to start with (1)Adequate Bedrest and repeated Steam Inhalation and Clearance of throat and nose repeatedly(2)Vitamin "C" supplimentation.(3)Decongestant Nasal Drops such as Xylometazoline(4)Broad Spectrum Antibiotics(5)Anti-Allergics such as Cetrizine 5mg thrice a day or as advised by physician(6)NSAIDS(7)Avoidance of Smoking/Tinned Food/Refrigerated Food (8)warm Saline/betadine gargling repeatedly at least thrice daily.
Keeping oneself Warm as a dip in more than 10 degree Celsius will increase the spread of respiratory infections in the community.
Wishing you a Speedy recovery.,
Best Regards.,
