Have Diabetes. High Blood Sugar Level, Elevated Heart Rate. What Will Happen When Alcohol Drinking Is Stopped?

My husband is a diabetic and also an alcoholic. His blood sugar level was 101 but his BAC was 283. What will happen to his sugar levels when he quits drinking alcohol (he is hospitalized) He has an elevated heart rate 145 170 that was finally brought down after about 15 hours. Is there any permanent damage? He is in a nursing home/physical rehab right now because he is unable to put weight on his legs. He also suffers from neuropathy.

Hello,

Liver has to function well to regulate the sugar levels in the body.

During alcohol intake the liver is busy detoxifying alcohol in the circulation.

Due to his sugar from the liver is released without any regulation and causes hyperglycemia.

This increase in sugar with damage the vitals organs of the body and cause diabetic induced complications.
