Have Disability, Taking Pain Pills. Drug Test Showed Negative. What Could Be The Cause?

Hello, i know this isn't really a medical question but me and my mother need some help. My mother a month ago did a drug test and failed it, to her surprise of course. She has never done any drugs, but her drug test said that her pain pills weren't showing up so she is denied any pain pills though she always takes her pills, she asked a nurse and the nurse said with such a low dose (5-325 hydrocodone) it might not show up. The doctor won't give her another drug test, and when my mom asked for a different doctor they said they can't give her one without the other doctors permission, who already said no. And i was wondering, is this possible? I mean my mom is on disability and needs them for her legs this just seems absurd.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Drug test negative even after taking suggest the level of drug that to be present in blood to show test positive is not present. There may be multiple reason like time of taking drug, last drug, other drugs taken with this, sensitivity of the test, different brand etc.
If your grandma is doing good with the given drug and dosage then need not to take extra drug. Since it is a derivative of opioid this drug cant be given without permission and without need. Consult your doctor for further management.
Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
