Have Fever, Coloration In Gums. Took Out A Tooth Earlier. What Could It Be?

The purple colour at the site of extraction may be due to-
Root/tooth pieces remaining within the socket.
Dry socket developed due to improper oral hygiene maintenance.
Bony protrusions also can cause this.
I would suggest you to get a thorough clinical examination by your dentist.
An x-ray will help to find out the underlying cAuse.
Remaining tooth portion has to be removed,if present.
Meanwhile,warm saline and betadine gargle may relieve pain temporarily.

There can be a chance of some broken root piece left in the socket which is causing infection and swelling.
I would suggest you to visit the Dentist and get the checkup done take an x-ray of the region.
Take lukewarm saline gargles 3-4 times a day to give soothing effect.
Take antiseptic mouthwash gargles twice daily.
Take a course of antibiotics and anslgesics.
You can take tab paracetomol twice for fever.
Apply ice packs externally over the swelling.

According to your history i suspect your mother has developed gingival infection may be due to remnants of the tooth left unextracted which leads to infection and formation of abscess.
