Have Fever, Congestion, Gas And Sore Neck. Taking Sudafed And Acetaminophen. What Could Be The Problem?

Hello: for the last 4 days I have experienced fever, congestion, gas, general malaise, and stiff/sore neck. Tr onslaught of the symptoms began with a very sore throat, but the level of severety of the throat pain has since subsided. Any clue as to what could possibly be going on? I have been taking sudafed (pseudo ephedrine) for the congestion and acetaminophen for the fever. However, overall I feel miserable and have not been able to nap or sleep for 3 days straight!

Hi,

You may be having a viral infection. Usually it takes one week to ten days to subside. Treatment is symptomatic which you have started. If symptoms worsen and there is a suspicion of super added bacterial infection, an antibiotic course is usually started. Otherwise continue the same treatment. You can also take a multivitamin tablet everyday.
