Have High Cholesterol. At What Point Should I Worry About Becoming Diabetic. Had Cataract Operation
I have high cholesterol 6.6 at what point should i worry about becoming diabetic? i have refused tablets as i want to exersize and change my diet. Will i avoid the need for tablets if i loose a stone in weight. I am 11st 12lbs. I am booked to have eye laser top up too as i have had a cataract operation and need this for good eye vision, should i wait? my cholesterol was always a threat even when i lived on salads and weighed 9st 4lbs this seems unfair. I do not want to take tablets and want to lose weight instead.
hi, firstly, since you have high level of cholesterol , the reduction in cholesterol level can not be controlled only by your diet and physical activity and hence it is really essential for you to take tablets. secondly, no relation with the weight reduction and your cataract surgery. however after surgery for sometime not advisable to physical activity. about your concern over the non-reduction of cholesterol even when you are on diet, that genetics has role in cholesterol regulation. and there are other multiple factor like physical activity etc, so please dont be demotivated by that.
wish you good luck in weight reduction and cholesterol reduction.
ITS MUCH TO WORRY ABOUT LDL - C CHOLESTEROL AND TRIGLYCERIDES LEVELS RATHER THAN TOTAL CHOLESTEROL SEE WHAT IS YOUR HDL - C STATUS.
IF YOU HAVE THESE LEVELS ELEVATED, ITS BETTER TO START MEDICINES, EVEN TAKING STATINS WILL HELP TO CONTROL PROGRESSION OF RETINOPATHY, SO GO AHEAD TAKING STATINS.
About High Cholesterol: If your cholesterol remains high even on strict diet control and you have a cataract, you need to get complete lipid profile and get yourself ruled out if there is any familial hypercholesterolemia (cetain type of cholesterolemia runs in family).
Reducing Cholesterol without Drugs: Avoid oily food Avoid fast food and bar be que Avoid Beef Abstain from smoking and alcohol Exercise regularly Eat fruits and vegetables alot
Cholesterol and Diabetes: well cholesterol does not cause diabetes, rather in diabetes there is a risk of deranged cholesterol levels and you need to decrease it to a certain level in diabetes.
Cholesterol and Cataract Surgery: You need not to worry about raised cholesterol while undergoing any sort of surgery. Rather your should try to lower it to keep it in optimal range anways
