Have Implanon. Had Unprotected Sex, Sore Breasts, Nausea, Bloating. Negative Pregnancy Test. What Is Wrong?

I have had my implanon in for almost four years now. I had unprotected sex four weeks ago and I had started my period on time a week and a half ago but it was very short and I did not bleed much except for the first day. a few days later my period ended my breasts became very sore and I have been getting nausea since just before my period and it continues with the breast soreness and bloating. I took two pregnancy tests today and both came up negative. what is wrong with me? wouldn't it show if I was pregnant being four weeks later

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Implanon is quite effective hormonal implant device and chance of pregnancy is very much rare. To exclude pregnancy, you may undergo one blood test for beta HCG which is more confirmatory.

Above clinical features may be associated with side effects of implanon. Hormonal imbalance, stress, obesity, improper diet, pelvic infection may cause the same.

Kindly consult with gynecologist after above test to proceed other investigation like USG scan etc. Take suggestive measures accordingly.

Take balanced diet, control body wt, avoid stress, maintain genital hygiene, take sound sleep and wear tight breast support.

Good luck.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
You should consult a gynaecologist for urine, blood test and ultrasonography to rule out pregnancy.
The chances of pregnancy are very less in your case because you are implanon.
Good luck.
