Have Itchy, Red Raised Spots On Our Bodies. No Pets At Home. Itch More In Groin Area. Bed Mites?

my wife and i have small red spots on most parts of our bodies. they are quite itchy and red, raised spots.mine started on my feet and ankles but only about 4-5 spots on each foot- which are now fading.we have a lot over our stomachs and behind our knees.in the folds. we think they might be caused by bed mites/bugs but we have not been able to see or find any.we do not have any pets /cats and dogs. they itch more at night time. my wife gets very hot most nights all over.they are starting to itch in the groin area more.

Hi, thanks for you query.
You seem to have been infected with scabies.It is a contagious infection caused by a mite which burrows in the skin with itchy spots on the hands, feet, wrists, elbows, back, buttocks, and external genitals.Palms, sole, face and scalp are spared. Intense itching occurs more at night.

Simultaneous treatment of all family members with single over night application of permethrin 5% lotion all over the body below neck is all that is needed.
The bed linen and clothes should be washed in hot water and sun dried before reusing.
Itching however persists for 10 -15 days for which both of you may take antihistamines.
