Have Low Fever, Sore Throat, Lymph Nodes Feel Swollen, Bright Yellow Mucus. What Could This Amount To?

What would be the most likely diagnosis for the following symptoms:
- Low fever (99.2 - 100.0) that has persisted for about 3 days so far.
- Sore throat, mostly noticed when swallowing. Seems to be generally localized around the area in my throat where the lymph-nodes on either side of my throat/jaw are.
- Mucus varying from clear in color to a bright-ish yellow. I see the yellow-colored mucus most frequently when I "enthusiastically sniff" to clear my nose, and then cough/bring up the mucus I just sniffed out of my nose back up out of my throat. I see some small amounts of both colors of mucus when blowing my nose.
- Feeling of mucus trickling down the upper-back of my throat.
- An infrequent cough when that trickling-mucus feeling gets "too bad."
- General feeling of malaise; slight aching in joints, very minor headache, fluctuating sensations of being hot or being cold.

I will probably be attempting to see my GP on Monday if I can get in. Just curious as to what I might be dealing with, and what I can do to help myself out until I'm able to see my doctor.

Thank you very much in advance. If there is any additional information I can provide, and you can ask for it, I would be happy to provide it.

Hello dear,

All these symptoms indicate that you might be having Pharyngitis.
Presence of yellow-colored mucus suggests bacterial infection.
And the cough can be attributed to post nasal drip.

Management includes:
1. Gargle with warm salt water to relieve throat pain.
2. Analgesics like paracetamol
3. Antibiotics depending upon culture & sensitivity reports to remove the causative organism.
4. Antihistamine preparations like Allegra can also be used to provide symptomatic relief.

Meanwhile...avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy foods.
