Have Low Pulse Rate. Tests Done. What Could Be The Cause And The Remedy?
Hi, I just gave blood again today but this time they were concerned my pulse rate was too low.
BP 117/67
Pulse 46
Hb 133
Weigh 60kg
Age this year 54
I walk 4klm 5 to 6 days a week & swim 3/4klm 5 to 6 days a week, gave up smoking last June & generally seem in good health.
Do I have to worry and what could it mean.
THE FIRST STEP IS TO SEE A CARDIOLOGIST / Slow rate needs to be DOCUMENTED by ElectroCardioGram (EKG). HOLTER (24 to 48 hour ambulatory monitoring) / ECHOcardiogram / TMT (Treadmill exercise ECG) / LABORATORY work-up – may all be necessary for further assessment and assistance. You may even need Electro Physiological Studies (EPS) - It could be Sick Sinus Syndrome?
The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
