Have Lung Cancer Stage III, Postobstructive Pneumonia. Does Gram Positive Cocci Represent Mycoplasma?
Yes, thank you. My husband has just been diagnosed with Lung Cancer stage III. He has also contracted Postobstructive pneumonia after his lung biopsy. They finally determined it is a bacterial pneumonia .... The only thing in the chart refers to gram positive cocci. Could that also indicate mycoplasma as it is treated like a bacteria as well?
Thankyou Sorry I did not realize I had to pay for it. Nevermind, thank you
There are different ways to classify bacteria. They can be classified according to their appearance (for example cocci means that it is a spherical shape) and the reaction to chemical agents. Gram positive means that the bacteria is stained dark blue or violet by gram staining.
Gram positive cocci may refer to staphyloccus or streptococcus bacteria.
Mycoplasma is a different type of bacteria and would not be seen as a gram positive cocci.
I hope this helps
