Have Menstrual Migraines. Taking Propanolol. Have Numbness In Hand And Lips. Worried
Hello Dr. I am 28 years old and I have had menstral migraines for close to 5years but recently from decemeber 2012 till date it has become more frequent like an everyday affair,I wld have btw-5 to 10 migraines a month, really severe pain either on the left or on the right side,it keeps switching sides.I was placed on propanolol for 2months it lowered by blood pressure at some point and I fainted so I stopped. Last week I had a migraine on d right side it was really bad and I experienced numbness on my left hand and left side of my lips.now I'm getting really worried
Hello, Thank you for the query. Migraine cannot be treated completely but we can eliminate some frequent effects of it by prophylaxis as you have already used propranolol I suggest you to use topiramate at night for 2-3 months which might help you and as it is an antiepileptic drug there will no effect on your blood pressure. For acute attacks you can take headset.Thank you.
