Have Nodulocystic Acne. On Nadibact Cream And Azithromycin. Suggested For Liver Enzyme Test And Pelvic Scan. Why These Tests Are Needed?
Hello Sir, I am 20 yr old, I am nodulocystic acne as per my dermatologist...He has given me azithromycin tablets to take 3 times a week before food...plus nadibact cream at night and clindamycin+nicotinamide twice a day...also i use derma dew acne soap for the face....Yet i donot see any difference even after a month...he has suggested me for a blood test for liver enzymes and testosterone and also a pelvic scan...Hence please give me a second opinion on this and as to y he may have asked me to get a test

these tests are prescribed for following reasons
nodulocystic acne responds well to a drug known as isotretinoin. It is a wonder drug for same. However prior to starting this drug we prefer a liver enzyme and lipid profile as the drug sometimes can elevate these. In case if you have an elevated liver profile, your doctor would not start the same. So the test has been ordered for your safety,.
This variant of acne is asscociated with hormonal derangement hence a test to assess hormone testosterons has been ordered as it could be elevated. pelvic scan has been ordered to rule out polycystic ovary disease which too leads to severe acne.
Just trust your doctor and get these tests done.
