Have Numbness In Feet. Have Diabetic Type 2 And On Insulin. Can This Be Due To Diabetes Or Something Else?
hi there i am a type 2 diabetic on insulin. I have a numbness and pain in my feet but moreso in my left foot. It starts in my ankle and goes down the outside of my foot. I have consulted with my diabetes doctor and he says its not diabetes related and puts it done to shoes that i wear. While i take good care of my feet i very rarely wear shoes and live in slippers while at home. I have one lift a week into the nearest town as i can no longer drive due to calcification in my right arm, and its the only time i would wear shoes. The last couple days i have a numbness in the back of my right hand just before my fingers. is this due to diabetes or something else
Hello, Your numbness in feet and at the back of your hand could be because of long standing uncontrolled diabetes resulting in early signs of neuropathy or it could be deficiency of VIT B 12. Control your sugar more meticulously. Take 5 to 7 injections of VIT B 12 intramuscularly as associated B 12 deficiency can also result in these symptoms.B12 deficiency could be because of dietary cause or due to associated consumption of METFORMIN. You must take VIT D supplement by taking 60000 units once a week for 6 to 8 weeks as it has been found that VIT D deficiency could also aggravate your symptoms. I hope you should be all right soon. In case your symptoms deteriote, then you should get tested for diabetic neuropathy and if found present, then take medicines like DULOXETINE and PREGABLIN etc,in consultation with your doctor. Thanks
