Have On And Off Hives, Swelling In Lips, Eyes And Feet. Can It Be Due To Hypothyroidism?

I have trouble off and on with hives and swelling of lips, eyes and feet; I do have hypothyroidism so I am wondering if this could be related to having hives and swelling; I was tested for allergies last year and nothing was found. I am also concerned about a connection with this and lupus. Susan

Hello, I have gone through your query.

I am seeing a lot of patients with different thyroid disorders daily in my clinic. I feel that your current problem is not related to your hypothyroidism. Probably it is due to allergy to some kind of medication, food etc. You can try changing the brand of thyroxine tablet.

You should get yourself evaluated for allergies of all kinds. But don't stop taking your thyroid medicine.
I hope I have answered your query.

Thanks and regards
Dr. Ankur Pruthi
