Have On And Off Pain In Throat. Hurts While Breathing Through Nose. What Is It?

Hi I have a on and off pain in my throat for the last 2 years, it does not hurt all the time when i swallow but at times it hurts, it also hurts when i breath through my nose at times feels like it gets dry and while breathing it hurts my throat, The pain is exactly about 1 finger space to the right of my adams apple. There is times were i dont feel it and there is times were it gets really bad. My doctor has looked at my throat and said its nothing, had blood tests and swabs taking as well. He told me if it still hurts in 6 weeks will send me to a specailist. i am just worried and need to know if its sers. 2 separate doctors have looked at my throat and both have said its not cancer but it still worries me

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Thanks for writing to H.C.M. for your query.

I read your query regarding off and on pain in throat during swallowing and you some times also feel pain on taking breath through nose, because it seems as inflammed mucosa of throat gets dried up and become painful.

You have already being examined by two doctors and investigations for blood and culture of throat swab but all are not indicating any abnormality.

My opinion is it might be possible that you may be having some problem in your -

(1) Cricoarytenoid joint.

(2) Pyriform fossa.

To find out the real lesion you have to be examined by ENT specialist and possibly Direct Laryngoscopy is the deciding investigation.

Regards.
